Having acquired a few CDs that are normally fed straight into the bin
(I know should be recycled as Lexus headlights) I carefully opened
out the centre of one and fitted it over the front barrel of my sigma
macro lense to act as a reflector this could be altered by glueing to
an old filter or stepping ring then I came across this;

5mm superwhite LEDs are around £1.08 each from Maplin and the CD
costs nowt useful as a modelling light etc.
The CD can also be used by peering through the centre hole and
reflecting light like the headband mounted things worn by the old
physicians, just the job when looking into dark holes for bats or
other things that like dark corners, free and easy to carry
