| | | Re: A Challenge Drum and Bass is my favourite type of music when played properly. There are only a handful of DJ's who know how to do so in the world and I often go to London should one be playing. You never hear it anywhere other than clubs as it is uber progressive. Basically, if its been played before, its not happening |

| | | Re: A Challenge Being a child of the sixties and having a brother and sister 10 and 12 years older than me, I was brought up on Motown. Still love the music and I can remember the words easily because they were like nursery rhymes to me! It would take a lot to beat Diana Ross' singing voice in my opinion.
As a teenager in the 70's , I nearly fell for punk but my Dad would have disowned me. So I went mad over Sweet-do you remeber them?! Ballroom Blitz was my absolute favourite.
Then I fell for Alice Cooper!!! Schools out! Still sing that! (Will be next week for half term)Yesss!

Matt | Yay Sylvian appreciators, like me!!! I'm usually in a minority of one there. David's music is very hit and miss for me though. Sometimes his music is sheer magic, sometimes he goes off on one and I lose his thread completely. Everything and Nothing is great compilation. Among my favourites generally are:
Blackwater
The Golden Way
I surrender
Every Colour You Are
Cover Me With Flowers
Now there's the Sylvian I love. |

Being a child of the sixties, I was a mad Beach Boys, Jan & Dean and Turtles fan until I found Cream. Then everything changed and along came Hendrix, Led Zepplin, Black Sabath Deep Purple and a host of other bands.
I never took to Tamla Motown, I had a theory which still holds good for me today. If you can dance to it, it's rubbish. |

All from the Back to Mine range
All good Cd's. All the same format i.e. what they would play if you went back to theirs to chill some.
Even if you are not in their normal music, they are all very good CD's.
I also recommend Kruder and Dorfmeister, Different standard | I agree, the back to mine seris are a good bunch of CD's and Kruder and Dorfmeister are great.
I am not really into indie, rock, metal type music but techno, electro, breakbeat, IDM, some drum and bass but i'm picky with that. I like good ambient music too.
Artists such as layo and bushwacka, groove armarda, richie hawtin, electroslide, kevin yost, lamb, craig armstrong, stardub, ochre, sven vath, andrew weatherall, mr scruff, evil nine to name a few.
Soulseek is a good program to download music from but i agree that is is always good to buy music to support the artists. Quote: |

Onionade and myself haven't been to a free party for about 2 years now though, but i always thought the ones in the woods were the best. |

| | | Re: WAB music!! Usually i listen to a lot of the music peppermint puts on cause she has good taste but these days ive been choosing to listen to a lot of the following artists :-
Adham shaikh
Pete Namlook (Fax records, germany, huuuuge discography since early 90's)
Muslimgauze (when im feeling a bit narky and dont mind cheesing my wife off)
Richie Hawtin aka Plastikman
DJ Krush (Has produced some of the most consistent experimental hip hop for over 10 years now)
Oliver Lieb (The black series is an absolute gem)
New Composers (from Russia, the album Na Machina is a really refreshing electronic fun experience, highly recommended if you can find it!)
Mere Mortals
Alpha & Omega <--these guys make some crazy dub
Gaudi aka dub alchemist
digitonal - a beautiful mixture of classical music and electronic synths, excellent.
Vladislav Delay - these guys just make crazy dub techno for the spaced out mind
shpongle
younger brother - (a flock of bleeps) this album i liked although i generally go for more techno material but this is a nice goa/techno experience
burnt friedman
dadbeat <- has produced some really innovative music on the minimal, dub techno front.
eat static <- for a long time ive been listening to eat static, most of their material is great, some not so great.
the almighty Future Sound of London - the have a new "best of" album now called - teachings from the electronic brain ... should bring back some memories for some people ?
the black dog aka plaid -> consistently amazing
the orb (little fluffy clouds is still one of my all time favourites)
and - Orbital (the album "insides" in my opinion is one their best still)
well, i could go on but im going to have to stop there. |

| | | Re: WAB music!! Hey Nick_Rowe - agreed, aphex twin selected ambient works vols 1 + 2 are fanatastic albums
Lamb, Portishead, Massive attack and Unkle are all highly influencial, a suggestion if you like these guys is -> Archive - Londinium (1995) a beautiful album along the same lines. | |
