| | | Re: Robin in a Hoodie Jonas Armstrong, the actor playing Robin, looks too young for the part. Robin, Earl of Huntingdon, was said to be in his late 30s, after coming back from one of the crusades. Still, £8million for the series, we'll have to see if it's worth it.

| | | Re: Robin in a Hoodie Hmmm... Well I watched the first episode last night. Oh dear...
Initial cringes - the immediate not so subtle attempts to link in other films to try to draw various audiences in. 1. "I shouldn't have said that" - Hagrid's classic line form Harry Potter. 2. Hiding in a hollow in the root system of a tree as the baddie hovers overhead - LOTR obviously. 3. Marion glimpsed in a firey orange dress - Prince of Theives. 4. The first woman you come across, a random female called Sarah, wearing modern pink glossy lipstick and blue eyeshadow(!) preparing food in nothing like a house or Inn but something out of the set of the Jet Li film Hero with its trailing green banners.
At that point I came very close to turning it off but decided to stick out the first episode. It improved a bit. Sean Bean sound alike Gisbourne added some character. But was he cast just becuase he sounds like Bean I wonder?
A cringeworthy introduction to the series but sometimes these things get better. I'll give it one more episode... |

If only they got the costumes right but even if they had I don't think I'll be watching any more.

| | | Re: Robin in a Hoodie For Robin Hood fans, this afternoon on BBC1 @ 4:10 "Jonathon Woss's World of Robin Hood".
He traces the reinventions of the folklore hero, from Medieval troublemaker to noble protector of the poor. On location in Hungary he meets the cast of BBC1s new drama. Might be fun, who knows?

| | | Re: Robin in a Hoodie It was very funny. And it was set in Worksop (Notts). Don't mind a bit of factual inaccuracy in a comedy - after all, everyone knows that the Merry Men came from Yorkshire! Quote: |

A careless start but I've noticed that with a lot of new productions and sometimes they do get better when they deepen and develop a bit. You'd think the production teams would be more aware of making a good first impression though. Worth another try or two to give it a chance, eh?. Even if its just for the laugh. |

I agree too and I'm going to have to practice my European bird song because those were no nottingham birds singing in the background, where was it they filmed?
I thought the few comedy moments saved it, made up for the naff stroking of Hawthorn and several angle shots of one somersault jump etc...... |

| | | Re: Robin in a Hoodie I wasn't expecting much, so I suppose I wasn't disappointed. Seemed to me that they couldn't make their minds up whether it was a drama or a comedy, and fell badly between the two stools. No sheriff of Nottingham is ever going to live up to Alan Rickman, goes without saying, but this one seemed particularly hammy. And not only the girlies had ridiculous makeup, but the chaps had far too shiny hair. Papa Scarlett looked as if he was in a L'Oreal advert. |

I'm off now, see you all later.
