| | | What is your natural environment? Where do you feel most at at home?
For me its British Broadleaf Woodlands (high forest). The more Ancient the better and near lakes and rivers. Yet I don't like salt water and the Sea at all, even though I am interested in what lives in there. Some how its alien territory for me *shrug*
But you may love it?
Or perhaps its the Moors for you or the Mountains?
Or even the city?
Do tell |

| | | Re: What is your natural environment? Ancient Boreal Forest like the Bialowieskiej on the Poland Belaruss border, I spent 6 months there in 1985. Wolves, wisent, boar, lynx, Beaver & tarpan all in that forest , I didn't want to come home, it felt like I was born there but that's another story. I also like rugged landscape, mountains, rocks & valleys, where I can see the Eagle soar. I need space to see the sky.

However, when out about, there's something about heathland. I felt weirdly right at home when I was working in Suffolk for 6 months..... |

Back to reality, I agree with Gill, under the duvet is a great place to be |

Back to reality, I agree with Gill, under the duvet is a great place to be | Its amazingly difficult to get permission to build a log cabin or any type of house in a British wood, or I'd be off living in one like a shot! Bowdie would insist on there being a broadband connection before he could cope with it though
I remember watching a very interesting episode of Grand Designs where a chap called Ben Law (with a little help from his friends) built a very cool house from sweet chestnut right in the middle of the woods. It was only due to the nature of his work - he needs to be on site to keep an eye on things all the time - that it was allowed (the only reason the authorities will accept as I understand it). Hang on I'll go find a link...
Here's one: Linky
See, that would do for me. What a great lifestyle (a girl can dream...)
Keep meaning to get hold of one of his books, they look interesting.
Under the duvet Gill? Oh yes, but in my little house in the woods |

Just had an email from a friend, Janisk, who lives in Bielsk Podlaski, on the edge of the Bialowieskiej, inviting me to his wedding in February . He is a Forest Warden there, he's told me to bring cold weather gear, as the wedding feast is taking place in the old Hunting Lodge in the forest, and to get there we'll be using horse drawn sleighs as no cars are allowed If all comes together I'll be there for Imbolc.
I don't believe it, I now need to get some real cash coming in if I'm going to do both the wedding & CLCT trips.

The odd gig here & there only keeps the wolves(human variety) from my door. I don't drive, though I wish I could sometimes, because I'd make a lousy driver, hey! Look at that buzzard... I'm in my 59th year & who would employ an ageing ancient hippy with a green beard?

I kinda know what you mean, I can't get back to work before the new year myself and even at 45 you kinda end up at the back of the queue work wise, unless you're already established. I can drive legally speaking, having past my test but I don't think I'm a safe driver, so I dont anymore. Its a reaction time thing with me and growling a big lorries that cut me up.
All pretty restrictive at the moment. |

All pretty restrictive at the moment. | A while ago, Beithe drew a cartoon of me with a pair of birds nesting in my beard. One bird saya to the other "There, I told you this is an environmentaly friendly place."
As to the Green Beard, when I can get into Glaston. & see my computer mate, I'll get him to do some scanning for me & then I'll post the results or you can go & see Chris Senior's site Chris Senior's Photo Galleries at pbase.com & check out the Green Events.
