My partner was a committed carnivore who hated veg because his mother can't cook and neither can he, luckily he'll eat anything I cook! |

I know what it is but is it not possible for genetics to be altered over years by lifestyle? Was just a suggestion and was wondering if their diet could have anything to do with it. |

This is not being faddy, just a revoltion for the flavour and feel in the mouth. There are a few exceptions. Potatoes, processed peas and baked beans. Onions and garlic are good as flavourings, but not in a pile on the plate.
My wife has tried to catch me out on a few occasions, doing things like mincing carrots into shepherds pie etc, but I can taste it and cannot eat it. She has long since given up. |

She has long since given up. | A friend of ours is just the same and he's tall, slim and as fit as a fiddle right now. Curiously I asked a Nurse recently about people with a predominantly meat diet and mentioned how our friend seems really healthy. She said that problems develop later on in life if you don't eat enough veg. It might be wise to add a little more to your diet if you possibly can, maybe increase the fruit if not the veg at least.
I can appreciate how it might be difficult if you just don't like it. My partner is vegetarian like me but has a problem with the texture of some food rather than the taste, like mushrooms or tomatos for example. If they are part of a sauce or something like that he can deal with them though. Actually there is quite a list of things he just doesn't like veg wise. Me, I like pretty much all fruit and veg so I'm lucky there.
My mum use to try to catch me out too by putting meat stock in my meals but I could always tell. My sister thought it was hilarious! Grrrr.
My mother was just worried though, which I understand now. Back in the days of my teens there weren't all the great veg options we have today and I probably wasn't eating a balanced diet back then. Used to go up the wall with her at the time! Well, honestly... | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
