'I have to say they were quite magnificent, however I'm glad they were of the magical type. Those muggle ones make such a mess and they're too loud.' said Sam the little Hobbit man, who told great stories, 'The loud ones-they make me jump, keep expecting 'He who must not be named' to creep up behind me, not that I'm not used to it of course.' |

Curiously I watched ...The Philosophers Stone again yesterday afternoon. Something about the weather called for it. No fireworks there though, but speaking of fireworks I only like the quiet ones myself |

Dobby wonders what can be done!!
Even if this is limited to once a year and the control of fireworks sales is more strict, how do we prevent more harm coming from the small amout of pleasure that some encounter from them. |

And with regards to TPs Diskworld, I've still got to get "Thud"

It got ridiculous around our way this year with the damn things going off incessantly every night for weeks. We have a tawny owl that visits our garden and the loud explosions definitely disturbed him. Also our Fox visitors seemed very restless, barking more than usual. Our cats pay no attention to most of them but even they we're alarmed by the massive bangs from the next door neighbour's garden.
People forget that many dogs are on tranquilisers during the period - it can't be good to give them over such a long period instead of the one night it should be. Also people were setting the bangers off on the night of 11th - Armistice Day - which seemed particularly insensitive to me.
There, I've had my moan - I just like the pretty lights. Much nicer. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
