So there you go if you're potter mad.
Though please bare in mind it's still a baby and we only have 37 members of which there's only about 10 active - so it'll be quiet. |

The forums look like fun. I've bookmarked it and will drop by again soon.
I think JKR should make more of the Weasley Twins myself, I like their mischief making But since she's writing the last book now, it's probably too late for that. |

Bookmarked the site though, for a later look.

Wow, you lucky person you.. to have all the HP books to read.... I must get them out again and start from the beginning. I have such a terrible memory that I can read a book and a year later read it again as if never read before. Good value for money those books EH.
LittleT.. lovely site.. as Sheryl said beautifuly presented .. very professional. I have also bookmarked it for later. |

I on book 9 of 12 of robert jordans 'wheel of time' | Just googled RJ & he's not a well man. He's suffering from a life-threatening disease, Primary amyloidosis. Post at Tor Books states he's having treatment, I wish him well.
Am going over to the library to see if there are any of the series in, if not, will order. they look a good read. Thanks Mr.Mag00.

| | | Re: Harry Potter Sliding right over to LOTR for a moment, I have a recommendation for real enthusiasts, its The Read Middle Earth by Brian Bates. It shows how Tolkien drew his influences for LOTR from our own very real history and the beliefs that existed in Anglo Saxon times. Its fasinating and a very easy read.
The link will take you to the book on Amazon for convenience. Check out the last review on the page under the heading Inspiring and vivid account of Anglo-Saxon magical history, . |

The huuby designed and set it up. It's one of many he has.
I'm not techy myself, and he did this for me as I was getting inctreasingly upset with joining sites that were getting shut down within a few months. Hope mine lasts longer!!
Secondly the Twins have been nominated on many occasions as the favourites in the Potter world, because of their mischievous behaviour.
But the thing we really have to remember is that JKR did bring these books out initially as a childrens series. The amount of story lines that are going on side by side are so well thought out and putting in too much more on the twins would detact from Harry even more so. As the series is called 'Harry Potter' we have to be content that JKR has done an extremely brilliant job in creating something that appeals to a wider audience. Kids of 8 up to the older generations Grannys and grandpas.
JKR is a wonderful woman with a wonderful mind. A truly amazing gift she has.
Anyhow I'll be Dobby, who could be seen as a distant relative to the Hobbit.

| | | Re: Harry Potter Dobby(me) walks into the shire, looking for his long lost cousin Bilbo Bagins.
Large Wizard similar in appearance to the Headmaster of Hogwarts school of witch craft and wizardry(Albus Dumbledore) approachs him(me).
"May I ask young house-elf what you are doing in these parts"
"I have come to visit my cousin, I say cousin, but in fact I'm an old friend of his. Bilbo and I met while he was out travelling, I helped him out of a few tight spots"
"I am Gandalf," the wizard replyed, "can't say Bilbo ever mentioned you before though."
"He's invited me to join him on an expedition" I explain proudly as a house elf I'm always willing to serve, "adventures are always full of excitement when Bilbo is around."
"And where pray is he taking you this time?" Gandalf enquires.
"To a far off Land, another world, The 'Disk World'."
Yes there are a few Terry Pratchett fans out there too - Only read 'Mort' myself, but Daddy has all the books and they are so well praised also that they're on my book list along side LOTR.
Witch craft, Wizardry, and Fantasy worlds lets go..............
LOTR, HP and DW combine nicely, so lets starts our adventure. 'Out Of This World'.
Have Fun. |

| | | Re: Harry Potter Fantasy books in General, if it's got witchs, wizards, humanoids of all sorts, magical creatures(many found in greek mythology) Trees, orc, dragons.
You name it, it's our magical world and we're already on our adventure.
We're just improvising slightly.
Astronomy comes in, the spirit world also.
Fairy tales. Legends............I could go on and on.
Everyones interpretations will be different, everyones views will be different.
Believe it or not there are many good arguements that alot of fantasy is based on fact. |

| | | Re: Harry Potter I once read a series of books called Shannara, sword of shannara, elfstones of shannara etc, by Terry Brooks. Complete copy of LOTR, going off on a mission to find, collect, drop off etc, but they are a great read and good in their own right, they all center around a character called Allanon, who is the Gandalf. I would recommend, if your into fantasy......... |

A Novel, this time but one that coveys a great deal of information about the AS belief system and a very diplomatic conclusion I thought.
So many good books you've all suggested I dont know where to start...

Hehe, maybe thats what our 'Quest' really is
Gotta say Stu has been very patient with us letting this thread develop, it has gone a little bit off the main theme of WAB but these things do colour the way we see Britain and its wildness too. A pretty cool heritage I think we have here Quote: |

This is the point that I was origionally trying to make on the art/occupation thread. Earth Hart really sums it all up in his poem(see above).
The way nature, art, occupations and interests are intwined, that there will always be some link to find.
This thread has enspired me to add another forum to my HP site.
"The Magical Realm" with forums open to discuss LOTR, Discworld, Myth and Legends and suggest more things to be added. I also intend to add a link to this site soon. |
