Hello All, I've just got back from Exmoor, soaking wet, and while I was out there having a yarn with some farmers about nothing in particular this local sample shouts over to me... "Hey Chunky, you rekons youma man o the country dunee?"
"Well, I spend more time out than in" says I. "In that case" says he, "When's the best time, doee rekon, to cut out a shovel stick?"
" In the spring?" says I "When the saps rising and the stick is springy" "Nooo" says he!
"Late summer then, when the stick is thicker and more sturdy" says I. "Nooo" says he!
"All right then!!" says I "When is the best time to cut out a shovel stick!!?" "When you zees the blummin theeng" says he.   
Well the farmers nearly choked on their whiskeys and I have to admit I felt well and truly mullered. |
