| | | Sudden pic upload problems Hi folks
Im running windows xp service pack 2.
I have never had any problems uploading pics to the gallery or sending pics to people via msn messenger or attatching pics to an email to send...but suddenly without me knowingly changing anything on my pc its not letting me do it...i have been trying all week to upload a pic to the mugshots gallery....i get the blue timer bar for ages....then it reaches the end and i get the time out "error" page...you know the one i mean.
I also cant attatch pics to email anymore...the same thing happens i sit and wait for an age while its downloading the pic then it times out?
have been onto telewest broadband....but as there is no problem with me surfing the net or opening web pages which is true then they are not able to help?...any idea
anyone had a similar problem?

Try doing a XP system restore to a point just before the problem started, it may be something simple like a virus or firewall update that is causing the problem. If the system restore does not cure the fault you can return to today's settings.

Not sure if it would make a difference but you could try.

Why don't you try downloading Opera - Opera browser: Homepage or Firefox - Firefox - Rediscover the Web ?
By installing and using one of these, you could eliminate any bugs within Internet Explorer - it's about narrowing it down, step by step. |

| | | Re: Sudden pic upload problems Your attachments problem in emails sounds like anti-virus activity. I had no end of trouble getting an image to a member as a simple jpeg. By making it a zip file it was received without problem. That doesn't explain your problems here though. |

Thanks beryl...i do all of that already though and also have service pack 2....i use spybot and clear cookies, files and history a few times a day...Im not a total computer phobe either ...i regularly sort out problems on my friends pc's when they get infected and stuff but this time im totally stumped....Im not so sure its a virus i just think somehow...something or me by mistake has changed a setting or deleted a file or driver or something?
My normal web browsing and net usage is fine...and quick as normal its just a problem with uploading pics here...on ebay or sending pics in msn messenger...all 3 of these are things i have done with no problem a thousand times a month....Until now?..
thanks for your tips though |

| | | Re: Sudden pic upload problems Oh. very strange. It can't be the fire wall then try rolling back as digi sujested, the only thing with rolling back is, if you have updated you antivirus it can cause a clash with the preciouse date where it hasn't been updated.
Have you loaded in any new software that might be causing a clash?
I often save all my files and go back to Factory settings ( or reformat)and start all over again takse a while to put all you filse back and get all you updates but it can sove probs if nothing else can
Any way good luck

| | | Re: Sudden pic upload problems Oh dear. You need the windows disc. Don't reformat with out that.
Make a note of your system code on the side of you PC and then go to Windows on line Help desk. That might help if you tell them you have mislayed your disk and tell them the code it will be registered to you so thay will know it is genuine
I don't kmow an awful lot but I worked in a computer shop where PCs are buit to spec
(I didn't buid any of course)
I have all windows in a partitioned sect and I just so to systems restore and it goes right back to factory settings.

| | | Re: Sudden pic upload problems Ok problem update.
Firstly a huge thank you to the kindness of STEVEA who was up till gone 3:30 am with me the other night helping me try to sort my picture uploading gremlins...but we tried everything and still no go.
Gave in and forked out 75 quid for alocal computer doctor to reformat and flatten my pc...re install windows and drives and service pack 2 I then re installed blueyonder telewest broadband ...hooked up to WAB and................... Still unable to upload pics....
To tell you the truth i was nearly in tears yesterday...i had to borrow the 75 quid from my mum and it seemed like it was all a waste of time...Tried to upload to ebay ( which is my priority im out of this flat in 18 days and have to sell EVERYTHING that i cant move into my mothers little house ( im off to uni)...and i cant upload pics to ebay either.
Was just about to start calling telewest and give them grief but thought i would have another play...installed a few more updates from windows and it now seems that i can upload to ebay again....tried WAB and its trying real hard and i get no error page but its claiming my files are too big? ( even though they are all same as pics i have uploaded before)...it says they cant exceed a certain meg thing but when i hover over them they seem a lot smaller...i have resized one with ifranview to the smallest size poss but it still wont accept it?...im SOOO CLOSE now to solving this please can someone help?...strangely too when messing around with stevea in the wee hours one managed to go through?..its my mugshot pic?

| | Re: Sudden pic upload problems Hello Dan,
I just had a look at you shot uploaded. For a shot of 640 x 480 pixels it is quite large at 271Kb. If the shots you are trying are above the 800 x 600 WAB minimum size they may be too large to upload. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
