If you right mouse click on your image it will show you the size that matters under the location box. If that size is greater than 500kb, the file is too large. I don't know what software your using but normally selecting a medium jpeg file size or if there's an option to save for the web, will create an image that is easily under the file size limits. |

Stu | It was file size that was the problem Stu. 916kb and also image size of 1600x1200. I've recommended Picasa2. |

It's my spelling lifeline. You don't have to have the toolbar to use Picasa2. I really recommend it, my photoshop has been virtually redundant lately, Picasa does almost all I need. |

the real culprit seems to be the fact that WAB recently changed its software that now checks FILE size as well as IMAGE size..Which explains why all my pics used to work and now dont...i wish someone told me this when i put this thread up ages ago i just wasted 75 quid !
I bet if someone gave me the date of this change it will tally with when i started getting problems...
Im going to get rid of ifranview and try this picasa
Im not angry just happy im getting to the bottomm of it.

Dan | To be fair Dan the guidelines clearly show the file size is 500k, with a maximum image size of 1280x1024. It will only reject if it's greater than 500k initially, the rest is up to the editors, and it's been that way for longer than your problem.
The one you had re-sized was a .bmp image, which is uncompressed so even though you had re-sized it, the file size was still too large. Confusing isn't it... |

| | | Re: Sudden pic upload problems Glad you've managed to solve it, but we've always had the 500kb filesize limit, and always had a 1280x1024. Some of the gallery categories have allowed larger than 1280x1024, and I think one or two might still do, but all are limited to 500kb.

I think it boils down to not realising the difference between FILE size and image size...i was resizing to way under the 600x800 limit and they still wouldnt work cause the file size was still big...or something like that
anyway dont all start getting chuffed that its solved i still have not managed to upload anything yet |

Download Picasa2 and install it, or any other editing software. The jpg option will then be there.
It's probably because you've uninstalled infraview.
There's always a reason.. we'll get there no doubt! |

Don't worry about re-sizing etc. go to File, Export picture to folder. Create of choose a folder where to put the image. In the re-size box put 880. This will make the largest side 880 pixels, which is perfect for WAB. Under quality, choose normal. Click OK, job done. Your image will be in the folder you created, and will be perfect for WAB.
I've got to go off line now until tomorrow, any further questions you can PM or email me and I'll deal with it tomorrow. |
