Don't know where it went, but what is there to discuss, you are either for the war or against it and its not really the sort of thing we go into on here. Just my thoughts............

Re: What happened to my post?

I was there at work doing an office refurbishment, i had my A620 on me so thought i'd take some images from the event, i'm not for or against it, and covered both the police side and the antiwar demonstrators.

I have posted my images in 4 forums and all have had a calm discussion.

For example

Re: What happened to my post?

I'm just guessing but i think it is likely that the wab higher ups dont want any kind of discussion, calm or otherwise, about the war on here - such things have the potential to attract unwelcome attention to the site such as hacking , DOS , etc

Hi Hokum, just post your pictures, no reference required as to where they come from in any great detail i would imagine.

I got the impression that Hokum had already posted the pics here but the thread had been deleted, if that is the case it might be better for him to PM either STuDH or one of the moderators such as GLsammy , Digi, or Wildone and check why they were deleted before posting them again.

I had hoped they would give a PM as for the reason, as it was only due to being relatively calm today, i posted this and didnt just decide to use other forums and not return. Also the images dont releflect my political standpoint, they are just images...

Your post was removed by the moderators, I have asked Stu to PM you and I expect he will when he is back online.

This has come up before on other threads, and my understanding is that they dont have the time to send pms for every post and thread that is deleted (on some days that could run into double or possibly even tripple figures)

I understand what you are saying about the pictures not reflecting your political standpoint , but the trouble would be likely to come from ensuing discussion, rather than from your original post , therefore stu tries to keep this forum as free of political subjects as possible. Its nowt personal, I have had threads and posts deleted before as have many of the rest of us. like i said before just pm stu if you want clarification.

Re: What happened to my post?

The original post was deleted simply because I couldn't see any Wildlife linkage, plus experience has shown us that whatever view the poster may have, the very nature of the event would stir unwanted comments and posts. As Eeyore has said, we try to keep this a Political free zone.
I'm sorry if this has offended you it wasn't meant to.

I think it would be a good idea if there was something that stated clearly somewhere NO TALKING POLITICS. I do sympathise with Hokum on this as its happened to me, remember this, which caused me to leave...... Where does WAB include ?
I didn't know then, (even though I never intended it to be political) and it looks like Hokem doesn't know now. It is only polite to say why a thread has been removed, if one is, so that people don't have to ask, but if people knew from the start it would save on situations like this. Not intending to stir the pot, just my thoughts...............

Re: What happened to my post?

Are these forums capable of auto scripts? EG, delete thread, why is thread deleted: Political, Spam, Slander etc. Then an auto responce just pm the author. The ASP forum i used to moderate allowed the function.

Re: What happened to my post?

You have a good point jonny it could be written into the site guidelines sticky , though it is not just limited to political subjects, some politics is in fact completely harmless as it very unlikley for instance that a debate on brown vs blair would lead to us being hacked or Dossed (member might fall asleep admittedly ), what need to be writen in is for all members to be aware of the need not to attract unwanted attention to the site by discussing very contentious issues, particularly those associated with millitant groups

I know that neither you or hokum intended to do this but both the antiwar and the issue you raised have led to other sites being hacked , dossed and trashed by people who feel so strongly about the issue that they are not concerned with niceties such as legality or ethics.

smart idea Hokum , but I guess only stu will know the answer to that , it may be worth pm'ing him as he doesnt have time to read the whole forums everyday

Re: What happened to my post?

I've just sent a PM to Hokum explaining what happened and why.
I'm the one at fault here, I should have explained my actions to him. There's no real excuse only my attention was diverted to other matters after I'd deleted the post and it simply went out of my feeble mind.
Apologies to you all, perhaps I should have a weeks pay docked or some other suitable punishment..Hang on a minute, I forgot, I don't get paid for this so that's out!
I'll try and do better in the future, honest!
