| | | Harvest heaps! Have you seen a bumper harvest of apples, plums, damsons, pears or whatever, where you live this year. The strange weather, with the very hot spell, seems to have been just right for fruit in particular here and thankfully, neighbours who have an excess are offering it to the passing public for a small sum. So much better than seeing it merely fall to the ground and rot.

Tinkerbell | There aren't that many fruit trees around me, but I have noticed several plum trees that are absolutely laden with fruit. However I have noticed that the Hawthorns, Elderberry, Guelder Rose etc are heavily laden, a veritable feast for the birds.

| | | Re: Harvest heaps! In the courtyard there is a Pear tree whose boughs are so laiden down with fruit, that some have snapped under the weight. I've used some for jam and sweets.
Let's be thankful for the bounty that Gaia gives us at this time. Will our grandchildren reap a similar bounty when they are my age, I wonder? |

| | | Re: Harvest heaps! I was staying atthe Norfolk Arms on the outskirts of Chapeltown recently
and having a nose around noticed lots of fruit trees heavily laden with fruit
it appeared that the area may once have been a very large orchard
The rate that we destroy orchards and hedging means we will lose our
green corridors and allthe wildlife that they support along with any fruitful bounty
you have to smile an e-mail just arrived, friends have bought a woodburning stove, now cannot find a steady supply of wood to burn!
