| | | Spell Checker No this is not a reminder for uncertain enchanters
I reread some of my old threads and am appalled
at some of the spelling mistakes I have made
does anyone else feel the same?
Is there a spell checker available on this site?

The situation is however getting worse, caused by a shortage of print left on some of my keyboard buttons. A technical problem. |

| | | Re: Spell Checker Not all are typos. there are a lot of spelling mistakes that I know I make. Usually the same ones each time. Will really have to learn not to be in such a hurry and use the dictionary. The trouble with spell checkers is that they cannot distiguish between 'there' 'their' and 'they're' and other times when words sound the same but the spellings and meanings are different.

I think you're right it's a hurry thing, a hurry to reply because when I occassionally take the time for more considered responses ( ) I paste it all into word to check for spelling mistakes. You're of course right though, it doesn't catch everything |

| | | Re: Spell Checker And spilling coffee into the keyboard isn't helpful either ... I do have serious problems with laptop keyboards (as well as small cameras, mobile 'phones &c) catching more than one key at a time so that spelling becomes pretty much a matter of random distribution of letters .... I can recall one or two posts that have made virtually no sense at all! I hope our worldwide viewers don't think it's actually English they are reading sometimes.

| | | Re: Spell Checker I have not had a coffee meets computer moment yet. The thought of loosing both caffeine and a keyboard is frightening.
I also catch multiple keys regularly on a normal size keyboard I blame this on finger wear caused by a long term rock climbing habit but its probably also just down to typing too fast. |

| | | Re: Spell Checker Yes, never write before three cups of cofee or after three pints of beer.
But, seriously, if writing a proper letter or article, I read through it afterwards, perhaps leaving a day before re-checking and printing - e-mailing is a different matter: you read through it but don't see the mistakes in something you've just written.
It's not just spelling - I know that I've written things that seemed to make perfect sense but the next day looked at them and thought, 'What's that load of gibberish about?'! Quote: |

I think the most common WAB grammatical error is confusing 'your' and 'you're' as in 'your welcome'! Maybe this should be a sticky

| | | Re: Spell Checker My spelling has got a lot better since forums came along, I do (sometimes) look up certain words I am unsure of in the dictionary and if I am unsure and cannot be bothered to look up I put a (sp?) after the word to cover myself. My grammar (sp?) is not too good though, and I appologise (sp?) for that.............. |

And I never really know if I'm spelling a word correctically any way

You have to download it.
It add a spell checker if you right click on a text box like the one I am writing in now. http://www.iespell.com/
