I don't know exactly which one, but I think it's a type of Garden spider - Araneus sp?.
I'm sure someone knows better.

It's a common Garden Spider by the looks of it ( Araneus diadematus) .... scary, aren't they, close-up? Imagine being a fly caught in the web and see that coming towards you!!
