become water efficient

Hi
Here’s one for you to think about
Got my magazine from the Wildlife Trust today, and inside there is an article on being water efficient.
One suggestion if you’re ok with it is not to flush the toilet every time you go for a pee, better still is to pee on your compost heap it makes better compost.
Now there could be a site for sore eyes.
What would you talk about to the neighbour over the fence while peeing on the compost heap?
Mick

Re: become water efficient

So basically, you're saying bring back the outside loo, without the loo!! That's called a latrine isn't it?

Julie
another name is cesspit, don't fancy going there again.
If we did pee on the compost and use it would that be classed Organic

Re: become water efficient

The earth closet was apparently very efficient,a friend of my
grandmother had an outside loo which had double doors at the
back and was emptied with a shovel and wheel barrow but
before use you had to check on the vixen and her cubs

Re: become water efficient

I live in a second floor flat .... I have no garden .... and therefore no compost heap.

Doing it (so to speak ) from the window would cause a problem for numerous neighbours .

Result? .... a spell in the cells at Basildon Police Station and an even longer stay at HM's pleasure in Sheppey prison .... I doubt even Julie would visit me at the latter .

I think I will stick to the loo .... if only because I would miss logging on to WAB during my period locked up.

Richard

Re: become water efficient

Visit the local nature reserve an pee on their compost - As I recall from my spell at langdon numerous people already visit lincewood for the purposes of relieving themselves on a friday and saturday night.

more seriously you can put a couple of bricks in your toilet flush tank , thus reducing the ammount of water per flush - you can also do this in public loos , urinal systems etc.
