Monthly what to look out for Thread.

I've had what I think is an excellent idea put forward to me from Wild-Woman.(Julie)
The idea is to have a monthly what to look out for thread, perhaps in the Main WAB Forum section.
Users could post items to look out for, such as dates of expected mass gatherings of birds, when you could expect to see certain flowers in bloom, that kind of thing.
Every month we could have a new thread, so as to keep everything tidy, and make the Thread a sticky so it's easy to see and find.

What do you think of the idea? All comments welcome!

brilliant, I've been trying to work out how to do this in a calender format with pics but this is far simpler and probably more effective!

Re: Monthly what to look out for Thread.

Excellent idea Julie!

We recently shared a PM regarding when to expect Arctic Skuas in the River Thames .... with this idea everyone would get to know this plus a whole lot more.

Let's run with it. The more of us that contribute, the better for all of us in terms of knowing what to look out for when and where.

Richard

Re: Monthly what to look out for Thread.

Nice site Xestop - If you make it a two way process ie contribute ideas as well as blagging them I am sure it will be okay. It might also be a good idea to add a link to WAB from your homepage.

If you PM StuartDH (our site admin) He ought to be able to put a link from us to you as well.

Re: Monthly what to look out for Thread.

Sounds good to me, if we stick to the format rather than commenting as we would in a thread, when the original info (What to look out for' might be lost - such resultant observations could be recorded in the appropriate 'sister' thread.

Re: Monthly what to look out for Thread.

I gather we think this should happen then!
I'll start a thread in the WAB main Forum, titled:September What to Look Out For.
It'll then be over to you folks to fill it with useful info!
Please keep comments out of the thread, so as to make managing and finding the info easy.
I'll make it a sticky, and I'll create a new thread half way through September for October.
Does that sound OK?

Fallow rut usually runs frome the second half of October to the first half of November, roughly. In the New Forest it peaks around 17-25th Oct. Maybe slightly different where you are.

Re: Monthly what to look out for Thread.

Well we had a what to look out for in September thread (with not many responses here September: What to Look Out For.) and we didn't have one at all for October and we are over half way through the month.

I think that Julie had an excellent idea with this one but it does need us to support it on a regular monthly basis for it to be of any interest and value.

Any chance of a what to look out for in November thread? .... there must be something to watch out for apart from Christmas trees and decorations! Anyone want to kick us off?

Richard
