| | | Natures Food It’s that time of year when nature throws up all its abundance.
I remember the days not so long ago I may add, when the wife, kids and I used to go out and collect blackberries.
Don’t think there anything better than an apple and blackberry pie with a dollop of cream or custard on it.
We also used to get crab-apples and elderberries and make jam.
Just wondered if anyone else had any favourites to share with us
Now I’ve just done this post could just eat a piece of pie
MIck

| | | Re: Natures Food A neighbour has just swopped me one of her jars of apple & blackberry jam for one of mine of gooseberry.
Normally I am leery of blackberries because of the raspberry beetle grubs. I once collected a polythene carrier bag full when I was on holiday on the Norfolk Broads intending to take home. After a couple of days the bottom of the bag was alive with maggots. I sifted them out and used the berries for wine. |
