Looking forward

Well the weather has turned and there are signs of Autumn around the corner. It won't be long before our chances of capturing insects, flowers etc will be limited, so what are you looking forward to photographing in the Autumn?

For me, I think I'll be on the look out for fungi and some lovely red and golden trees.
I want to capture the first conker on here this year too............race you! WW

Re: Looking forward

Yes, the weather is distinctly autumnal this morning.

Photo opportunity? .... probably Brent Geese returning to the Thames Estuary.

Conkers? .... I already have one .... OK, it's one from last year and I am cheating .

Re: Looking forward

I feel slightly unsettled by the fact that August this year more resembles September.

Re: Looking forward

As a birdwatcher there are plenty of opportunities of photographing different birds that are on reverse migration and I am certainly doing a lot of travelling to see if I can get them. Two weeks in Turkey in September, a week in Cornwall in October and more than likely a week in Norfolk in November. Hopefully some good photos will come out of these trips.

Re: Looking forward

I'm looking forward to photographing some of the birds that I didn't manage last autumn/ winter due to not having the right equipment. Examples, Siskin, Redpoll, Fieldfare, Redwing and many others.

I saw the green spiney shells of the conker yesterday on the Horse Chesnut along the banks of the Otter but they were too high and to far off for me to photograph. Or I would have posted them today.Might take up tree climbing and go back

Re: Looking forward

Absolutley, Ollie. Looking forward to it, although I feel a bit cheated this year with regards to the weather (apart from July). Hope we get a good September - should still be able get some good Dragonfly/Butterfly pics.

Re: Looking forward

Well I'm looking forward to the autumn colours. It maybe very good this year because of the stress that the recent hot spell has caused the trees, especially if next month is dry!.

Also I'd like to build up a nice collection of fungi photos and learn more about them too(John )

Of course with the bird migration and the willingness of the birds to come to feeding stations more because their summer food dries up, this is something to plan for

.....ohhhhhh there's too much to look forward to, especially as I prefer the cooler tempratures lol

Re: Looking forward

The October rut, something I haven't photographed (so any offers will be grabbed with both hands) I just want one image that I'm happy with, a misty/steamy morning and a stag bellowing out to the world saying "bring it on". I'll be glad when all this green stuff falls off the trees so I can see the birds again. The Oct/Nov fog and mist banks over the landscape. Early morning means 8am not 4am Spending time under scrim netting trying to get that one image that makes all the waiting worth while and I could go on and on and ..... lol

Edit haven't really thought about Autumn lol

Re: Looking forward

Ooops sorry Steve. The weather here is bloomin awful though so we must think of our next photo opportunities. All those nice little dragonfly nymphs will be bedding down in the ponds soon, cooking up some lovely wings for us to photograph next year! And I for one will be doing my level best to get some stunners next year.
The taster this year has given me a mighty big appetite for the dragon/damselflies.

Julie
