| | What's your.......Favourite Breed of Dog? I've had loads of different breeds of dog in my life and at the moment i've got a West Higland White Terrier and i've found out of all the breeds that they are the best. I was just wondering what everyone else thought because I am looking to maybe buy another dog |

| | | Re: What's your.......Favourite Breed of Dog? Im not really a fan of small dogs or fancy dogs. I like large breeds prefferably a working breed, and not something that everyone has (labrodor owners i appologise).
I would love a breed of pointer, or a gordon setter, a musterlander, or maybe even an alaskan malamute... i think im going to need to start saving some money for one of those..
but if i was going to get a dog i would go to the local dogs home and pick one from there, my family have now had 5 dogs from the NCDL/dogstrust and they have been/are all gems. there are enough dogs out there needing a home and i definately wouldn't go a pedigree dog for that very reason...

| | | Re: What's your.......Favourite Breed of Dog? I can see where you're coming from there. We've had a rehomed X-breed big dog an he was the most placid, kind dog you'll ever meet. I don't think i've heard him growl or bite or anything like that since he was born. He's now 15 and a half (the vet is surprised he made it past 12), he is slightly blind and deaf, he has artiritus and fatty cancerous lumps. We are not really surprised though because for a rehomed nearly 16 year old dog, hes doing well! |

| | | Re: What's your.......Favourite Breed of Dog? My mother-inlaw used to breed and show Bloodhounds and Golden Retreivers. When I first came to the house to meet the mother-inlaw I was met with two Bloodhounds and seven Retreivers what an awakening that was, and we have never been without a dog since. after the hounds passed away we carried on with just retreivers and now just have our beautiful Bruno bless him. He is terribly soft and I'm afraid very spoilt. We try to take him everywhere with us and when the Kids come to visit he goes completely mad like he's from planet Zogg. We'd always planned to have an Irish Wolfhound (cream colour) a particular fav of us both and was going to call him Milligan, we may still have one but for now we'll stick with our old faithful Bruno.

| | | Re: What's your.......Favourite Breed of Dog? I was given a rough collie on my first birthday and I have fond memories of that dog. During teenage years we had labradors, which were great fun and very easy to train, though they love food, any food. Up till a few years ago, we had a bearded collie, which was a lovely dog and good tempered, but needed a lot of grooming and always got muddy on every walk, even if we went somewhere there was no mud .......... |

The hounds were far better looking and with far fewer wrinkles, and they did'nt make your ears bleed when they howled in the morning. We used to tie a lump of meat around her neck just so the dogs would lick her face.
By the way unfortunately she's fully booked for a haloween fly past this year but i can fit you in for 2007 .

| | | Re: What's your.......Favourite Breed of Dog? My Mother's friends used to breed cavaliers for quite sometime but gave up because of recurring heart problems, a defect in the breed, I think Westies too can suffer with breed related problems according to my vet.
I'm thinking about getting a dog in the next few years and currently the german long-haired pointer is top of the list!
