| | | Thank you Mully Thank you for a lovely day.I got home at 5 O'Clock didnt get it wrong this time. For the benefit of the forum Mully and I met at Haldon Forest Park where she showed me her favourite places and also showed me where I might see Deer, lizards ,toads and pointed out tracks of Deer and also how to tell where the deer can sometimes be seen.No luck today but thanks to Mully I now know the sound of the woodpecker and saw a green woodpecker and just a few minutes later I saw a sparrowhawk and a buzzard. No photos they were to high but a wonderful sight for me as I had not seen them before. We were very lucky to see an awful lot of the Common blue butterfliesand we were told by a very nice lady who was doing a butterfly count that they were the possibly a second brood as they were numerous and very bright blue.We watched and photographed a mating pair.We also saw Fritillary's,(not sure which until I have checked the books against my photos), Clouded Yellow,Peacock numorous Gatekeepers, Brimstone,Small white and Large White.Didnt manage pics of all but when processed I will post the the best I got.
Absolutely worn out and boy was it hot but I had a wonderful time and it was so nice to meet you Mully.Perhaps one day other forum members in our part of Devon will be able to get together and see more of our beautiful area of Devon. |

| | | Re: Thank you Mully Awwwwwwwwwww, thank you too. I am so glad you enjoyed your trip over and glad you got back in one piece. We were not over spoilt with wildlife, well except the flutterby's, but at least we saw some interesting things on an extremely hot day. The woodpeckers were great, but I think the blue butterflies mating was a highlight for me.
Remember cherrybee, if you go back, check the deer poo to see if its fresh or not!!!
I will check my piccys tomorrow and post anything that is any good. Maybe we should do a thread on the day rather than just add them to the gallery?
Off to get a cup of tea........ and then to stick my head in another animal book. |

| | | Re: Thank you Mully Yes the blue butterflies mating was also my highlight but the site of the sparrowhawk and buzzard came a close second if only there had been chance of a photo that would have made me the happiest granny alive hehe.Just drinking my 4th cuppa since I got home.House was full of grandkids and daughters and students for dinner I nearly turned around and went back to the peace and quiet
Oh and I wont forget my lesson on fresh deer poo | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
