| | | Unbeatable Over the last couple of days (off work for hols),I've had a good look through the WAB galleries. I've decided it's unbeatable. Such quality photographs from all contributers, leaves me breathless.
It's worth taking time to REALLY look. What an amazing display it would make if they were in print and put in the Tate.
So well done to all. I think we've got the best gallery and gallery mods(who hang all these pieces of art on the wall) on the entire net.
Julie

I dont always have the time to have a good look and find myself running out of superlatives to describe some of the images when I do take a look in the galleries. I am amaxed though everytime I do have a good look round and would implore everyone to take a sneaky peaky as often as possible and show their support for the contributors |

I totally agree with your comments.
I think that the quality and range of photos in our gallery is a credit to all contributors and the gallery editors/moderators. Well done all!
I personally have also found the gallery to be an invaluable ID guide to some of the wildlife that I am less familiar with e.g. just recently I have been able to identify a Speckled Bush Cricket which otherwise I would really have struggled to ID.
My only regret is that with work commitments presently I am having difficulty keeping up with the forum let alone looking at or contributing to the gallery.
Keep up the good work everyone.

Could not agree with you more
We are very lucky to have so many members willing to share their photos with us
Pictures they say are worth a 1000 words, these are an invaluable source of information
Long may it continue

| | | Re: Unbeatable They're brilliant arent they. I'm even picking out photographs by contributors even before I see who it is. A lot have that 'certain something' that lets you know. Bit like Monet or Constable or even David Shepherd of modern times.ww

| | | Re: Unbeatable I've never bothered about Publishing mine, I don't think they're good enough. I also don't bother with copyright markings, I don't see the point. The image quality on this site is no where near good enough to print anywhere else, so what is anyone else going to do with my images? If they nick it and look at it on their computer, that's great. If they post it on their own web site as theirs, I'd be quite chuffed at the backhanded compliment!
I take my images for my own and others pleasure..Take my bat images. I was asked if I could send them to a Bat society. I sent the entire range of images on CD in full Raw and high quality jpeg so they could look at them as they should be seen.
What gave me the greatest pleasure was that other were excited to see my images. |

I suppose if I was a really top photographer and my images were worth something then I might be miffed if someone nicked them, but until that day....

Matt | Exactly!! Well said Matt. I look at the real top photographers with due reverence, Kev Lewis to name but one. When I'm taking shots of his quality, I might change my mind a bit..but even Kev doesn't bother to mark his on site images, or on his web site. You can buy the High quality version if you wish, that's the way to do it. |

| | | Re: Unbeatable Hopefully many of my pictures will be published in the book I'm writing with my mycologist friend Neil Barden, about fungi and fungi photography. Fungi photography for me has become rather a full time occupation I'm now well over the 30,000 fungi images, which is a nightmare keeping track
I've had photographs published previously in 'industrial' journals and university publications and in my early life I spent quite a few years doing wedding photography and teaching darkroom techniques ... Oh how things have changed
The strangest photography job I was asked to do, was to photograph a dogs funeral
As for the WAB galleries my views are similar to Graham's. I just hope people enjoy them as much as I like taking them If they somehow encourage others to go out and do the same then thats a bonus!
Above all, it's the members kind comments and support which I always rate as 5 stars. It always cheers me up to login and check the new images. There really is no other site to compare with WAB. |

There really is no other site to compare with WAB. | At the risk of killing the thread, and sorry if I do, I share those sentiments of Graham, Matt and John, it's a thrill and a joy to be a member of WAB, it's my way of unwinding at the end of what usually turns out a to be a stressfull day at work and become completely lost in the site, and thanks not only to the Guy's I've just mentioned but ALL involved. in what ever shape or form. well done ALL. I wish I had found the site earlier.
