| | | Back from Cornwall Got back from Cornwall yesterday after a fantastic sunny week doing absolutely nothing
Not a wildlife holiday particularly, but there were a couple of highlights. - In the garden of the B&B we stayed at in Devon on the way down, I saw my first Golden-ringed Dragonfly. What a beautiful creature! Definitely now high on my favourites list.
- Went on a short boat trip out from Padstow, and saw about a dozen Basking Sharks just outside the estuary. Another magnificent creature - and BIG! The boat didn't get close enough for us to see the animal below the water, but we saw the top of the nose, the fin and top of the tail.

You were lucky to see that many basking sharks. Did you get any shots of them?
From my book the golden ringed dragonfly is west country species so that's one to look out for down there. ww

That's right - the Jubilee Queen - and, yes, I feel lucky to have seen them.
I got 1 long distance shot with my digital compact.

I've remembered 2 other nice sightings from the week - a couple of Hummingbird Hawk moths and several Clouded Yellows.
No photos of the Cornish widlife, I'm afraid, but...
on my return I have taken the plunge and (Warehouse Express permitting) will be armed with a shiny new 30D and Sigma 150mm macro at Wicken
