| | | I can't remember his name I was just looking at Captain Kevs humourous caption on post 31 of the Falconry, Good / Bad? thread.
When I was at school there was this chap that used to visit the schools that had allsorts of animals as pets and many birds of prey. He had various parts of his body missing, a finger I seem to remember and definitely an eye, that was apparently twocced by a bird of prey.
This chap was an absolute legend and apparently used to go round all of the schools.
Anyone remember him, and if so what was his name? |

| | | Re: I can't remember his name Hi Boddie,
I too am 35 and also schooled in the Midlands - I remember a man who used to come around with animals and I also remember what we used to call him. He was known as 'the animal man'. How's that for originality. It could well have been the same chap as I'm sure he toured around - maybe he was known differently in your area. I don't recall him only having one eye though (and you'd think that would have stuck in my mind as a kid). Maybe there were 2 rival 'animal men'?

| | | Re: I can't remember his name It was something like that. A very simple name he had I am sure. I am sure I read he died a few years back, or maybe that was a rumour. Or maybe, as you point out, there was more than one. |

Famous as a pioneer of bird photography, particularly owls. His eye was taken out by a Tawny owl when he got too close to the nest while photographing it. |
