Open IE again and it should be fine. |

Firefox is fine and free, I've been using it and it's predecessors for a long time. Currently running the Beta 2.0b1 version on Vista. If you prefer to use something a little lighter but still based on the Gecko engine, give k-meleon a try. They'll be safer in use than IE 6.0.
Edit: - scratch the top line for a mo - use the mouse to stretch the window to maximum size by dragging it - don't just use the maximise button - then close and reopen. |

I had a look in the regestry but I can't find a property for it. | Some discussion on the registry properties for it http://www.tek-tips.com/viewthread.cfm?qid=747348 and an alternative method there, too - open just one window, maximise it and shift/click x to close.
You could always toggle F11 for full screen mode |

Possibly if I knew the Hex value for a Maximised window it might work, but all on that page failed. What is your hex value ? Maybe I could copy/paste it?
Full screen mode is icky. Thanks for trying

Kev | You know I find this sort of thing puerile and rather sad - I've met Bill Gates and have the greatest admiration for what he built FROM NOTHING - I wonder just how much knowledge you have about software development and supplying an operating system and programs that must operate in every language, on a range of hardware that hasn't even been designed at the time you are building the software - what do you think you are achieving by such comments ?
As a matter of fact I am a Mozilla Firefox user rather than IE, at this moment I think it is a better program in terms of performance, but I also prefer Rioja to Bordeaux - should I start to abuse the French wine producers? A little temperate consideration might be appropriate! |

Its interesting that despite your great admiration for microsoft you are using mozilla rather than IE as a tribute to your hero, why ? cos its better despite being free... strange that

| | | Re: Internet explorer Help!!!!! That's the very point I'm making - at a given point in time you might get an advantage, or prefer (Rioja to Bordeaux!) from a particular decision - not a sense of humour failure, just a touch of sadness when I see people making comments like yours - IE is a serious pice of technology - you didn't know how to save a window size - who's fault is that? You addressed it by making cheap comments about Bill Gates, others showed you how a very simple Google search would get you an answer. I do think the Microsoft empire will crumble and I certainly have no brief for them, unfortunately I am old enough to remember the rise and fall of IBM, and the parallels with Microsoft are remarkable. Enough said, let's let it lie - life's too short to fall out with people - Cheers Ian |

I also didnt make any coment about bill except to say that IMHO mozzila is better - that was kev as well, expressing his legitimate anger at the failure of his MS software. Billy boy has made billions out of MS, therfore it is fair enough that he take the flak when things go a bit pete tong
And if life is too short to fall out with people perhaps you should think twice before describing another members post as "puerile and rather sad" cos that sure aint a way to win freinds and influence people.

What am I achieving from such comments? It was a light hearted dig at the Windows operating system, nothing more. It was a “funny”.
My opinion…
As a business, Gates had done a fantastic job. His OS works wonders and has revolutionised the computer as we know it. He has made a stack of money from it. I wish I had shares in his company. Great for him oooeeeooo for me!
His OS is far from user friendly, even to the point that the normal person in the street is not qualified to use it. The Help files are next to useless, the GUI is below par and the user options are, again oooeeeooo.
My Knowledge of software design.
I have designed software that is used by Councils etc across the country. The emphasis on all my work is “User friendly”. Microsoft etc do not have that policy. The problem with such a simple thing as the window size demonstrates this.
My preferred wine is Spanish, liqueur is American and beer is brewed in the UK. Feel free to abuse the French.
If you meet Bill Gates again please tell him that I am more than happy to give his products the “once over”. I do charge a lot for my services but it would be worth it in the long run.
Have a nice day
Kev
