Can you explain the light rule and do you think we will win the Ashes?

I could explain the light rule, but then I'd have to expalin why it was offered, which is more difficult!

The reason it was offered was for consistency. For the previous lights being offered neither umpire offered the chance for England to bowl a spin bowler and therefore as the meters readings were below that of the previous they were obliged to have offered.

the spinner argument is irrelevant since the law was changed. It used to be the case that the light could only be offered if the batting team was at risk of harm.
