Last year I was in Arrow Park woods on the Wirral.I'm not sure what made me turn around, but, when I did I saw a Fox walk across the path behind. Then it just disapeared behind a bush. It was in broad daylight and so close that it would have been an amazing picture! When I told my sister, who was standing next to me, she didn't believe me! If only I had the proof

Theres loads that i can't think of now, but you know the times where you see something and you think 'i wish i had my camera with me...'! But maybe the one i will regret the most is this; ive just been down to the isle of wight for a week and found a sight where i could see Glanville Fritillaries (only found on a few cliffs of the IOW, within the UK), first time i went i saw one - didnt have my camera, all of my following visits i didnt see them at all. Missed a great opertunity there...

OK, on checking my ID guides i have decided it wasn't a Glanville Fritillary as its a bit late, but now i wish i had my camera so i could find out what it was...

I just took a small cheap camera and missed so many pictures of birds, butterflies, flowers and even the mammals. Took a video camera too which I used when we went whale watching. Maybe one day I will return, but I will be better prepared if that does happen! |

| | | Re: What photographic opportunities have you missed, and what was it? Hi. Some time ago my garden was being visitted by up to five Badgers in the evenings and we fed them. So I spent some time one evening setting up flash guns and a camera with a long release chord on a tripod to take their portrait as they were coming within ten feet (sorry 3 metres ) away from the dining room window. Closing the curtains around the long lens and checking everything was set and the window open just so, I awaited their arrival for about 30mins past midnight. My wife had gone to bed. I watched and watched and saw first one then another come down the path toward the food. I staid my hand until four were there and saw the fifth coming through the bushes so I hung on to catch them all.
Suddenly just as the fifth was looming into sight, my wife called out from the hall in a loud voice 'they're here'.
So I packed up my kit, shut the window on the now empty garden and went disconsulately to me bed! The oportunity has never arrisen again although we are still blessed by their visits as well as the odd Fox but they no longer seem to venture so close to the windows. Oh well! | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
