| | | 3000 members So we now have our 3000th member and I recall it was not so long ago we were predicting 2000 members by a certain date.
I chose my birthday - next weekend. How wrong was I? Only 1000 out.
Fantastic. The site is growing at a very quick rate at present. What is also encouraging is that the thread count is now surpassing the member count, which means more activity per member.
Any bets for the date for 5000 members?

| | | Re: 300 members The thread is headed 300 members. I thought you might have done a count of the members who post, even if it is only to say 'Hello'. There does seem to be a lot of members who never post. How many of those are active in logging on and looking even though we never hear from them?

| | | Re: 300 members Sure, I think there are a lot of members who utilise the site for reference but as I said, with the post and thread count, we can see that the activity is rising sharply per member and also more new members are getting involved |

3000 members that's great news, the site is going from strength to strength, 5000 by the end of the year.
It's a pity we can't beat the 264 members on line at one time.
There must be a lot of members out there with information to share, so lets hope more join in.
Mick

| | | Re: 300 members On 12/5 we had 2000 members so we have grown 1000 in just over 2 months. At that rate of exponential growth (50% in two months) we should be up to 10,000 members before Christmas. |

Mick | The marketting group are working on a variety of ways of raising public awareness, my welsh 3000s attempt being just one such. - the 264 came about after wab was mentioned on the radio, so a coordinated publicity campaign should top that.
incidentally what is our total hit count ? and our average daily hit count ? - these will be a true measure of our success as they tally everyone members and guests.

| | | Re: 300 members These numbers vary massively from what I can gather and can be dependant, to a certain extent, on the topics of the boards. The radio piece was just a short talk by myself, nothing special, just my thoughts on the site and its potential, the target audience (everyone) and, of course, how great it is. It was a national channel and we did see much activity at the time.
I'd still like to see a small flyer designed, which could be downloaded, from the site, and printed off, then distributed by anyone who wished to. During my travels today I will probably pass through 25-50 villages or towns. Each of these will no doubt have a parish board at the church, an ideal place to put a flyer up. |

I have also done a trial run of biz cards for members to handout - got 250 done at my own expense and distributed them at gigrin, titchwell, etc on my travels - they were well recieved by fellow birders and photographers - though obviously there is no way of ttracking the success rate (which recieved wisdom suggest ought to be 5-10%). I am just tweeaking the design for this then the proofs will be going to stu by email and being uploaded into the marketing forum
one point about parish boards is that they maybe glass fronted as many are - in which case you would need to contact the parish clerk.

| | | Re: 3000 members It is nice to know WAB is growing and we are attracting a lot of very nice people
all seem genuinely interested and the best bit is some are prolific contributors
I feel that everyone no matter how knowledgable or otherwise has something worth saying we seem to thrive on answering questions (and that amazing gallery) but it would be nice if new members and visitors just said hello even if they are only researching
