| | | Irritable I just cleaned my lens with a lens cleaner solution.
On the back of the bottle it said IRRITANT.
I have to say that I found the experience quite pleasant and it certainly did not annoy me. |

Golden rules for sensor cleaning:
Dont touch it with your fingers,
Dont use lens cleaning fluid
Dont use canned air - it blows little bits of proppelant everywhere - compressed CO2 is okay though
and
Dont use marmalade - aparently some muppet returned his 10D to canon with marmalade smeared all over the sensor - how this happened is a mystery for our times.
Also dont over clean the lens with fluid it isnt good for the glass coating, just breath on the front element and give it a quick wipe with a clean, lint free, antistatic cloth

| | | Re: Irritable no I just made it up .... of course its true thats why I said it, using cleaning fluid sparingly wont do any harm but using it everytime you clean the lense will eventually take the anti glare coating off the front.
Other things to avoid getting on the front of your lense are camel dribble and bird poo both will knacker the front element big stylee, yet another reason to put UV filters on all your lenses

I tried camel spittle before. Its no good, I agree |

I dont know whether to trust you since you last told me to dip my lens in vinegar to clean it. It still hasnt dried out. The bloke in the camera shop reckons you are talking rubbish. Its all very well you back tracking and saying I should not have used malt vinegar but thats all I had in and you never made your instructions clear. My mates reckon only nancy boys have balsamic vinegar anyway. Were you trying to tell me something? |

A better bet is to use a bulb blower to clean the rear element, or a can of CO2. Quote: |

Were you trying to tell me something? | That's strange, I was sure I told you to use clear pickling vinegar and to lightly buff the front element with 80 grade sand paper in a rythmic swirling motion
You might like to try dipping the entire camera in a vat of olive oil as well to make it all nice and shiny
