I'm off on my hols for a couple of weeks to the Mendip Hills in Somerset, I shall miss looking at the site every day but no doubt I will have a lot to catch up on when I get back. Pat

Looks like you should be able to escape the thunderstorms tomorrow and then after that it's looking fairly clear for most of next week so I hope the weather holds out for you.

I'm off to Cornwall for a few days tomorrow morning and I've already planned an itinerary of rockpools, clifftops and heathland (looking for Adders). I'll hopefully come back with hundreds of wildlife pictures.

hi pat if you are close enough have a look around PRIDDYpool used to be lots of lizards and snakes also the footpath over the hills to CHURCHILL for Adders

Thankyou Stuart, I will. And Nightshade, We often go to Priddy and Churchill for walks, they are very near to where my sister lives I'm looking forward to it, the only problem with going where there are Adders is that we usually have 3 dogs with us so we'll have to be very vigilant. Pat

Have a great time Pat and hope you see LOADS of wildlife.

We, husband Neil and I, haven't had any holidays for the past 18 months as last year we moved house and this year has seen us both start new jobs but we are planning to get away somewhere this autumn or winter - even if it's just for a few days to chill out and take in a few nature reserves.

We normally stay in caravans in the Lake District but haven't been there since October 2004 when we stayed with a friend....getting TERRIBLE withdrawal symptoms now!!!

Haven't been to Leighton Moss for far too long!!!

Anyway, I'm rambling on.......have a great time and look forward to hearing all about your sightings when you get back.

Just returned from Cornwall myself, and am pleased to say Red Admirals are alive and plentiful in the area we visited near Penzance. Also spotted a Sea Urchin in the harbour which excited a few visitors. Have a good holiday Pat.

Thanks for all your good wishes folks, this is my first real holiday for 10 years, my husband died last year and up until then holidays were a bit limited due to the fact that he had a weak heart. Getting involved in wildlife and the countryside has helped me a great deal. I'll be in touch when I get back. Pat
