Internet explorer slowdown

I have been having allsorts of problems since losing all my pics.when the hard drive physically packed up.
Just recently I found I could not access my e-mails or print them and different programmes
hung or slowed right down, including WAB
I reloaded internet explorer (and used the version 7 beta3) so far everything works ,and trots along nicely, lets see if it stays this way (I have firefox in the wings ready)

Re: Internet explorer slowdown

I'd always recommend Firefox over IE. It seems to be far superior and far quicker than any other browser. If you're operating a Mac (I operate both from home) then I would also recommend Safari.

Re: Internet explorer slowdown

Yes, I'm sure it is lurking in the doldrums somewhere! I hated and detested that programme, it seemed to do nothing but crash my Mac every time I used it. Apologies to all at Netscape, I'm sure it has improved immensely since I last used it.

It was on your "dead computer" thread - I posted a hack for disassembling the harddrive, taking the disks out and installing them in another body with working read heads. If you do do this as soon as it powers up effect a global transfer to another drive because reassembled drives are as stable as a celebrity marriage and may well go down again in fairly short order - like next time you power them up, the drive is dead but we might be able to save your pics. There is only about a 75% chance of this working but its worth a shot as you have nowt to lose really.

I'd offer to do it for you but I'm a bit too busy at the moment, PM me if you get stuck tho.

Re: Internet explorer slowdown

I have just been e-mailed by a friend who has sent 3 e-mails that have not come through

There is opera to consider too, of course I dont really rate it but a lot of code slingers swear by it.

So would I. I never use IE now.

And Mozilla's Thunderbird as an email client is better too.
