ID's required please

Hi Guys

What is the best forum category to ask for ID's in if there is mixed subjects in the thread?

I need a wildflower and an insect identifying please. I have searched our galleries with no joy

First the flower

and the insect

I would also appreciate constructive criticism on my dragonfly pic

its my first try and with the new Sigma lens.

Thanks

Andrew

Re: ID's required please

The first picture is Lousewort (Pedicularis sylvatica)

The second is Common Yellow-sedge (Carex viridula ssp. oedocarpa) with some sort of Cranefly sprawled over it

Personally I like the dragonfly picture except for the mess of twigs on the righthandside, so thats more a criticism of where the dragonfly chose to sit, rather than on the performance of the lens.

Re: ID's required please

Hi Boddie can we have the Common Yellow-sedge in the gallery please as that would be a first for the gallery. Also the Lousewort is without the pink flowers which are the only specimens in the gallery.
Hope you are enjoying you new lens, you cetainly have made good use of it with these.

Re: ID's required please

Thanks Wildone. You can use any of my pics in the gallery. Do I have to upload them again? I think I have a better photo of the common yellow sedge on my card and will submit later but sure you can use whatever I upload.

Following Aarons ID of the lousewort I went into the gallery and found several examples with flowers - I do not know if mine is marsh or common?

This is great fun.

Thanks guys

Re: ID's required please

Glad that you are enjoying it all, Boddie. Thank you for permission to put any of your images on the gallery and no you do not have to re-upload them as they are already in the Unidentified section of the gallery. Should you wish to upload a better image of the common yellow-sedge then we will use that especially as it was the insect you wanted IDed. So nice to see you taking photos again after what seems an age since your last offerings, of Fungi if memory serves correctly.

Re: ID's required please

There's a few good examples of Lousewort on the WAB gallery, but it's funny how different a plant can look at a different stage of development.

If you could break down the thread and put the insects in the insects forum and the flowers in the flowers forum then that would be a big help.

If the two are in the same photo, then I've no idea ...take your pic.
