Why?

Why can I only add one photo to my thread? I am sure you used to be able to add more than one

Re: Why?

He's being sarcastic, mate

You ought to be able to add as many photos as you want, but you have to add them one at a time following the instructions in the sticky thread.

I dont understand why stu changed to this system but I am sure there was a good reason.

Re: Why?

I want to add some pictures to have them identified before I submit them to the gallery. I am sure you could upload more than one before?

Where is this thread you speak of?

No doubt the changes are because some members abused the system with constant threads asking for ID's for their own site uploading pictures and asking for ID. Just as was predicted. Marvellous

Re: Why?

http://www.wildaboutbritain.co.uk/fo...rum-posts.html Look here mate - i think the reason is more do do with the forum attachment folder being too full - basically stu has created a couple of unmoderated galleries which you can load straight up to then image link from. anywa all the discourse on it from last night is here.

Your spot on Boddie. Plus other mischievous actions. You can now post your unidentified straight into the Gallery, plus also critique shots if you wish, without modification. When it's been identified, it can then be moved over to the correct Gallery by us mods.
See: http://www.wildaboutbritain.co.uk/fo...-new-post.html for details. You can link any images from there back into the forums.

Re: Why?

Thanks Graham. It seems I always get shouted down when playing devils advocate and people feel I am having a moan but this is just what I felt might happen. I wish people would understand that some of the things I say need saying and this has proven the point. Actually it was easier than I thought. Shame certain peoples actions change it for everyone else

Re: Why?

I think the specific issue was to do with people linking pics to outside sites then these being changed at a later date to more adult images - plus also people loading 10 or more pics onto a single post repeatedly. IMHO the new system isnt an improvement but I know Stu will have had a good reason for doing it.

Re: Why?

There are more than one reason, your both right! It's to bring control into the forum images, which are not searchable and are taking up loads of space. They can also drop links when linked outside of WAB. We aim to bring all images into the Gallery, wherever they are linked from, including the forum posts. It will also mean that no one can change a link or image after it's been posted, which has happened.
Also as Boddie said, we've had some link to their own site on every post in the forums, something we can't have.

Re: Why?

So is it now not possible to link outside at all ? I mean surely they will still just type in their web adress to plug their own site on every post

Re: Why?

As far as I can see, uploading pics to the gallery for id ensures that they are there for all to see in future, rather than maybe being 'lost' in an old thread, so this works.

Having been part of WAB from day one, much of the fun for me is taking a picture and if I cannot id it, initially looking through the gallery or reference section of WAB. If this fails I then ask members for their help. I also enjoy it when other members post a picture and then ask for our help to id it (it's all part of belonging to this site - helping one another, and taking up the challenge). Any reference to an external site for id is what ensues, if all else fails.

Tink
