The Deviant site is certainly a cult/trendy site to be on, especially if you like something different or original. It's a good site, I like it. There are a few members of WAB that are members of that community too - pxl8, Gaina for eg. All good stuff if you ask me |

| | | Re: What do you call photos taken digitally? Hi Nightshade, they are purely called 'digital images or pictures'. We had this discussion on a photography forum that I'm a member of, and here is my reasoning behind my answer... Photograph n. a picture formed by means of the chemical action of light or other radiation on sensitive film. Picture n. (often attrib.) a painting, drawing, photograph, etc., esp. as a work of art. Image n. An optical appearance or counterpart produced by light or other radiation from an object reflected in a mirror, refracted through a lens, etc. Ian G |

| | | Re: What do you call photos taken digitally? What I was looking for was a new description to suit a new medium. I do not want to type photograph or picture these terms belong to other crafts of another age.
Image reminds me of reflections and things graven!
Digital imaging needs a new word. Dimage is close (but taken) a Pixie is almost there the next step is a Dixie any others?

therefore it makes no difference whether the imaging process takes place on film or on a sensor - and thus no new word is needed they are still photographs!
