Hi

because I'm feeling a bit fed up with the rain I thought I'd set you a challenge to see who can be the first to identify these two beasties.

I have no skills in this area (or any other), but 1 followed by 2 would clean the spout on your teapot.

Automeris io - Bullseye Moth ( or Io moth )

The black hairs you can see break off if you touch them and sting like Nettles but last a bit longer ( not tried it to find this out though )

The second one is British

It's not a Noctuid and it's not a Geometrid.
That gets rid of a few species.
