30 caps for England & part of the great Euro 96 team not bad for a one footed footballer

If i'm going to mention 96 i can't leave out a certain Paul 'Gazza' Gascoigne, who did he score that wonder goal against again

Cool Re: Which football team?

have you heard this

Oasis star Noel Gallagher reckons the money will keep rolling in at Manchester City 'every time a United fan buys a gallon of petrol'.

United fans will boycott petrol... leading to a gate of 12,000 for their next home game (and a very quiet M6)

More like 1 at least 70,000 travel up from cornwall

I read an interview that Alan Sugar did about Man City & there new owners here's a little bit of it.

"I am afraid to say that 15 or so of the clubs who make up the Premier League are simply cannon fodder for the five others owned by billionaires.

It makes you think that the league is split in two. Maybe the other 15 should not spend a penny, play all English players and just fight for the League Cup, the FA Cup and 6th position downwards and avoid relegation.

Let’s all face it, they have no chance to win the league, why waste the money.

Give the English players and kids a run out and challenge them to beat the billionaire brigade. This will generate a winning, giantkiller spirit.

The good news is that the 15 clubs will have loads of money to build better facilities, reduce gate prices and offer the local community a service in having academies of excellence. And we will flush out some good players for the England team."

Re: Which football team?

Arsenal rarely spend big money and they are usually in contention, shows what a decent manager can do with youngsters

Re: Which football team?

"There's only one Queens Park Rangers ... "

The reason for that, of course, is that no one in their right minds would want to be QPR.... I thought I'd been on this thread but it seems not; so I'll say again that I'm not a manic supporter (except when it comes to QPR and I'm having my doubts about them now that the baddies have moved in .... ). I've mainly supported my local team but, over the years, have accumulated a little list of those I look for on a Saturday night - not in any particular order the top four would be QPR, Sheffield United, Liverpool and Tottenham.

To be honest, I don't have any great expectations of two of these but every year I say, Liverpool will win the League and Spurs will be in the top three or four .... and, of course, it's been long time since I was right ....

We would probably still be the mediocre rubbish we were throughout the '70s and '80s with the odd FA Cup win to keep us interested.

SAF is a genius and a legend .

He was only manager of East Stirling for four months before he moved to the Paisley club, St Mirren. He steered the team to promotion to the top division in 1977 (and increased the average attendance at St Mirren games by a factor of ten in the process). But he was dismissed by the club over a dispute over bonus payments to his players. Wonder if they regeret that decision. He was immediately snapped up by Aberdeen who had not won a Scottish championship for over 20 years. Under Ferguson they won three League titles, four Scottish Cups, one League Cup, and the European Cup Winners Cup (beating the mighty Real Madrid) in 1983.

He was coaxed to Manchester United in 1986 and his start was not auspicious - the team lost to Oxford United. The team struggled for a few years (losing 5-1 to local rivals Manchester City in 1989). But the team won the 1990 FA Cup and as the policy of developing young players paid off, the club went from strength to strength during the 1990s.

Re: Which football team?

Getting away from the spurs/man utd lovers for a min

At last after 5 successive draws the mighty York have at last won 2-0 against Woking

Let's not mention that Woking are bottom and have just sacked their manager

Oh and I see England are managing to hold the mighty Andorra to a goal-less draw at the mo

PS It looks like we might of just scored

Typical Tottenham the only point we have so far this season is from Stamford Bridge where most teams will go this season & lose.
Yet we lose to the mighty Sunderland,Middlesbrough & Aston Villa

We're never going to win the league so as long as we don't get relegated winning a cup will do for us
