I expect another member will give you better advise then make your own mind up whether to ask or not. shei.

| | | Re: Farmers The poor farmer, he may not want photographic evidence of Badgers or
Owls (even Bats) for various reasons NOT all bad (protected species etc.)
We used to have a proper market place here (old peoples residences now)
and you could ask face to face without bothering them at the end of a very long day, buying them a pint was also a good gambit.
Better still was a personal recommendation all very difficult I know, a nice little note, with examples of your photos perhaps, with a stamped self addressed postcard enclosed addressed to Mr and Mrs Farmer (Mrs often wields more power) give it a shot they can only say no Good Luck

| | | Re: Farmers Thanks Sheil & Nightshade I actually bought a car from one local farmer about 5 years ago so I hope he remembers and maybe even feels guilty as the car was terrible. |

| | | Re: Farmers You can only ask but I know a few farmers in my area and they are all interested in wildlife and are very knowledgeable too.
I have often wandered over farmland (not crops) and always received a cheery wave from the farmers, well it looked like a wave.

| | | Re: Farmers Geordie - I'd endorse everything that's already been said - especially shei111's comments about how you approach them and respecting their crops etc.
The only tip I would add is that if you get any really good shots of anything particularly interesting be sure to let the farmer have a print.
I've gained consent to access their land from several local farmers and in fact have never been refused (one even invited me!), though I've heard two complain about other photographers visiting their farms but never even reporting back on their findings let alone giving them any photos.
Good luck
