Lost Nationality

My son applied for job seekers allowance(dont ask)the interview was conducted over a telephone when asked for his nationality he replied English (football fan) the accented reply was ENGLISH is a LANGUAGE NOT A NATIONALITY! has Blair sold us down the river? I spoke to a Welshman a Scotsman and an Irishman who assured me they still have a national identity who gave mine away and why

presumably since we hold British passports citizens of England, Scotland and Wales are all technically British nationals? So although they didn't accept English as a nationality they presumably wouldn't have accepted Scottish or Welsh either. Maybe someone can confirm if this is correct.

If you look at the Governments own web site, they only speak of British Nationality. No mention of Welsh, Scottish or English.

Maybe we should do what some did with the religion part of the census. If enough people say they are a particular religion, even though it doesn't exist, they have to include it as an official religion.
