Double whiskey.( pref malt )
Two teaspoons of Honey
Juice of half a lemon
Two tablespoons of boiling water,,,
Stir well and drink,,,,
Also you can gargle with a weak solution of TCP and warm water.
This is far more effective than the hot toddy however its the hot toddy for me everytime....I sometimes have the hot toddy but without the Honey lemon and Hot water..

| | | Re: Home remedies.... I use Manuka honey - Medibee UMF 10+.
It may be expensive, but it works for me. (Reduces Helicobacter pylori in the stomach too - added bonus!)
I take a teaspoon and swallow as slowly as I can - usually just before bed (after brushing my teeth). I'd probably have another in the morning.
But I do have a strong immune system - so the effective dosage for myself may be lower than for some people. (For example, I haven't had a cold now for several years. I have a cure for that too, but I won't ramble on.) |

Garlic is a good antibacterial as well so lots of garlic bread! (just not with the curry)

| | | Re: Home remedies.... I read in a natural remedies book that i have that salt was good for clearing the sinuses. It said to rub some up your nose as it absobs the moisture. I told my mother in law this who was suffering from sinusitus at the time and she had a face steamer machine type thing so she put some in the bottom with the water and inhaled the steam. She said it cured the sinusitus when drugs from the doctor hadn't. Never tried it myself, but may help some of you if you ever need to try it. |

| | | Re: Home remedies.... to clear the sinuses and help with post nasal drip etc I was told to crush some garlic and black peppercorns, put in the centre of a hankey or bit of kitchen roll, put corners together, twist it round to make a smallish ball and breathe in through the nose , it certainly makes me sneeze if nothing else

Apparently it also helps deter biting flies (takes a while to build it up in your system)
