| | | Webcam - Orphaned Little Owls This link maybe of interest to Owl lovers.
It shows the webcams at the Barnowl Centre in Gloucester with 5 orphaned little owls being fostered by the Centres Little Owl. When they are old enough they will be released back to the wild where they belong. Hopefully I will get a wireless camera set up on the Tawny owl orphans as well |

All of the owlets were brought into the centre at various times. One was found during building work at the old Berkeley Power Station, the others from sites where the parents were known to be dead In order to minimise the human contact Bobby, the centres little owl, acts as a great foster mum and will adopt any orphans. When they are old enough they will be transferred to a remote hack where they will be left until they are comfortable with the area and then re-released. The cameras allow the centre to monitor their progress and allows the general public to see something very unusual
General rule of thumb if you find any young bird on its own is to leave them alone as normally the parents will be around. Only if you are absolutely sure that they have no means of support should they be removed from the area.
I am currently trying a new camera at the centre which can be remotely panned around. If it is successful it will be used to monitor the tawny owl avairy with yet more orphans. Please note this isn't always on-line at the moment The link is here
