Pink Floyd have a very wide range of music. Some I have liked, some I do like, some I find tedious.
As the title says, music that moves you. Let what you like strum your organ! | I completely agree with you!
I was just trying to gently tease a few Floyd fans - in my experience they're usually quick to rise to the bait! WAB Pink Floyd enthusiasts are an altogether more laid-back bunch!
Anyway, I wasn't being completely truthful - I do really like some of the Syd Barrat stuff. |

| | | Re: Music that moves us Alot of Dylan right across his career, inc from latest Modern Times, "Nettie Moore". Some Floyd is profound and terrific (some not so, agree). Some Billie Holiday, Schubert, Chopin (ethereal) and Satie, the music from the film "Badlands" with the beautiful photography of the countryside is wonderful and never fails to give the shivery feel(even though a violent film).. |

It sends such a shiver down my spine and some pieces have moved me near to tears. All that emotion captured in a piece of music, amazing.

So, feeling safe in the knowledge that non of my Greabo Heavy Metal Rock Monster mates will be reading this I think its ok for me to come out and say that The Goo Goo Dolls "Iris" knocks me out everytime. If you don't know this song please Google it.

| | | Re: Music that moves us This thread certainly seems to have started something, and I agree with most of the choices people have put forward (though I personally prefer "Echoes" to "Comfortably Numb")
I'll happily listen to most things depending on my mood - anything from Bach to Brubeck to the Buzzcocks - but I have to say that one of the most haunting things I've heard recently has been Thomas Tallis' "Spem in Alium". 40-odd voices all singing different parts, but it comes together so beautifully.
Bit surprised that no-one's mentioned the Beatles as "Eleanor Rigby" strikes a bit of a chord with me. Surely I'm not the only one.
Cheers

It takes me to the places- shopping precincts, youth centres and night clubs all gathered in a circle of B.Boys throwing down our moves against one another, the atmosphere in the cipher was pure energy and I still feel that kinetic energy- pure magic, can't describe it!!! Though I'd probably break something these days attempting such moves lol. Good Ole hip op

The Welsh language lends itself to music, it is wonderful sung whatever type.
And there is good music from other parts of the world such as India, South America and Africa. |

| | | Re: Music that moves us There's one piece of music that spirits me away to another time, on the South Downs, and that's Vaughn Williams's "Lark Ascending" It take one back to a real countryside, without 4x4s, off-road bikes & the noise associated with them if it's not them it's low flying aircraft & choppers, to a time when there was quiet peaceful reflection

| | | Re: Music that moves us I have just 'discovered' Siobhan Donaghy. She was the first girl to leave Sugababes back in 2002. Do a Youtube search for her songs, So You Say, Goldfish, and, Don't Give It Up. God the girl has a beautiful voice. Almost Kate Bush-esque in parts. Why is she not famous?
Cheers,
Adam
