On general principals both Nike and reebok do a generorous fit, reebok actually have a wide fit as well as their standard. New balance are suprisingly good as well if the budget is a bit tight, and asics are pretty decent too.
The other thing I would say is to stay away from the funny torque soles, these supposedly increase your speed, but they are less comfortable and the grip aint all that running on pavements as the marathon is likely to be.
Another point is to get used to running without music because players aint allowed in a lot of marathons and to get used to running with a bottle of water on your belt - if you do a twenty six you'll need it - even allowing for the top up stations. - oh yeah and forget all the camel back rehydro systems they're great for hiking but you wont be able to top it up enroute - a nice simple bottle holder on a harness into which you can stuff what ever bottles the organisers give you is the way to go.
