We have a lot of problems with the local youths in my village, so the council, in their wisdom have put up CCTV cameras along the main street. All this has done is moved the youths to other areas and they are now congregating in the evenings in local beauty spots, drinking the famous "tonic" wine Buckfast, cutting down trees and setting fires.
Why are they so destructive and cruel? When I was young I wasn't an angel but my friends and I would never have dreamt of acting the way they do today.

WHAT AN EVIL THING TO DO, GET THEM ON THIER OWN AND THEY ARE CRYING THIER EYES OUT. PARENTS MUST TAKE SOME OFF THE BLAME FOR NOT KEEPING AN EYE ON WERE THEY ARE WHO THEY ARE WITH AND WHAT THEY ARE UP TO. THEN ITS MY JOHNY WOUDNT DO A THING LIKE THAT.I HOPE THEY CATCH THEM AND GIVE THEM 6 MONTHS HARD LABOUR.

If a child of mine treated an animal that way then I would give him/her the biggest hiding of their lives (against the law or not!), they wouldn't sit down for a year!!! But my baby is 31 now and had respect for animals, and still does, thankfully. |

The punishment should fit the crime.
I'd love to kick seven shades of smelly stuff out of them but I would probably go to jail and they would get a rehabilitation holiday which in turn we would be paying for. |

Hi Sarah, that's an excellent post. I too am a teenager (just ) and I am disgraced by sharing a generation with such mindless mortals. I think If I saw one of them hurting an animal, I'd be knocking ten shades of grey out of them, and I know they say "Violence isn't the answer" but people like this need a good sodding kicking. |

What a truly awful story but unfortunately one that seems to be coming more frequent.
I could say that it makes me ashamed to claim that I come from the same County but thankfully there are a lot of people in Essex that do care about our wildlife and environment.

we now have gangs of Ferrel kids up and down the country kicking people and animals to death.When they are caught and end up in court no punishment seems to fit the crime's.I have read a book by a retired FBI agent ,who connects cruelty to animals go on to offend violence to people, and that many serial killers when they were very young had minor convictions for cruelty to animals or had bullied children much younger than themselves.Time to get tough with these yobs and take away there freedoms for a long time. |

It's a sad fact that it's usually the minority who gives groups a bad name, but the minority seems to be growing. I don't know what this world is coming to, but I really hope it doesn't go too far! There are so many great people in our age group and then you get the little fractions who have to mess it up. They think it's funny and cool to do horrible things like this, but they're only making themselves look worse in everybody elses eyes. I just hope an example is made one day that changes the minds of people like them but it seems a far off wish at the moment......

They would sooner report on drunken yobs or football hooligans than on someone litter picking in the local park or looking after an owl with a broken wing. This is just my opinion but I think a lot of people will agree with it. |

I hate hearing that animals are at the receiving end of human spitfullness yet again. The news will always show what 'scum' there is in this world. Bring the army into it and discipline the little gretons
I feel that some youths of today needs to go to army camp. It will do them good.
Relatives of mine live in South Africa and they have to have a year in the army (at 16/17 years old) whether they like it or not. It is part he culture in SA. my cousins are great people and very well balanced human beings for it.
Maybe a UK verson of the army camp will only answer for some discipline now and in the near future. If this does not work send the 'gretons' to Iraq and give them a reality check.
I am so sick and tired of hearing that we should protect our children, and wrap them in cottonwool.
Protect them from what themselves!!!!

More yobbish behavior-my brothers girlfriend was hit with an egg which was lobbed out of a car whilst on our way to a restaurant last Saturday!
I know if we stood up to them we would have been beaten or stabbed perhaps?!
What's going on with all these kids nowadays????
