| | | Irony I'm home after driving down from Anglesey through the night and then dropping into the Forest of Dean for a 05:00 wander around. After a session with the local jays and woodpeckers I found a pair of mating water snails, the very very small ones, on a reed and thought ooo a nice macro shot. So I got the macro gear out the backpack, put the 600mm down thinking it was a bit of overkill for two snails and set the camera up.
By the time I'd got my act together the snails had finished their act and the male had slide away. Now if I can capture a kingfisher in flight or a falcon why the hell can't I capture two snails having sex !! |

You mean the ones that hang from trees on a rope of slime? Not seen that. Not all slugs do it this way, though.

Me neither, I know the leopard slug does it though. There're some good pics at

| | | Re: Irony I've seen slugs mating and I'm presuming snails use the same method? They formed a circle and it appeared as though both their sex organs are at the side of their bodies, both being on the left hand side. Am I right in saying this?
