| | | WAB Forum reunion I've noticed that there are a few members that have tailed off with their posts and there are some that haven't posted at all. Is there a way of getting them to a reunion on the boards. I'm sure they're all interesting folk with lots of knowledge. ww |

Just as an example, my wife is a member. I won't give her user name, but she is very interested in wildlife like me, but just does not have the time to post very often due to other commitments.
I would certainly like to see more members posting but how to achieve this I can't really say. Anyone else any ideas on how to achieve this.?

| | | Re: WAB Forum reunion What you have to remember with forums is that some people join up just to have a nose around, perhaps glean some info or have something to add occasionally but rarely use it full time.
I moderate a car forum with about the same number of members, maybe a bit less and we have a core number of people who continually post, a smaller number who visit now and then and post,an even smaller number who post very infrequently and a large number who are online but only read.
I think this is true of most forums tbh.
If you look at the membership here i reckon maybe 2.5% are regular posters
Not sure how you go about getting the irregular and non posters to post and interract more though. |

| | | Re: WAB Forum reunion We're actually planning on starting a newletter each week/fortnight, which we can send out to all the members (but they can switch it off if they don't want it ) and that will probably see some of the old faces back again.
In the world of online forums it's quite usual to only find 1-2% of visitors join, and only 1-2% of them will actually post anything, and then only 1-2% of them that will visit regularly and stay around for a long time. As a result we do a lot better than most, and the newlsetter should help increase the figures a bit as well

| | | Re: WAB Forum reunion Good idea Stu. It would be good if it helps. This is by far one of the best website forums I've ever been on with a lot of top quality folk with shed loads of knowledge. Not to mention all the support that we get from the mods. It's just brilliant. ww |

| | | Re: WAB Forum reunion I think that initially posting at forums can be quite frantic from new people and this may last a month or so but that can soon tail off. As for WAB, as has been said, perhaps people join up just to get something ID-ed then they disappear.
I've known very few forums where I would actually want to continue posting after say, thirty posts for example as for the most part they tend to have an inner clique that won't let anyone else in and you end up posting with no one replying. WAB isn't like that, actually this is one of the nicest places I have found and I've felt welcomed from the off

This is a hard one to solve.
Lots of people tend to join wed sites in order to learn and ask a few pointers.
They tend not to reply or assist in some cases because they are a bit worried on giving wrong information and others members might run them down.
I know this not the case on this web site and that we are all learners and like to pass on what information we have learnt and I must say lots from the people on this site.
But I can understand how some will feel especially if the are just beginning, and we all have to start somewhere.

True enough but i joined the forum with nothing to offer really (and some would probably say i still haven't ) but you persevere..........help where you can and learn from what you read.I have to admit i didn't feel to comfortable when i first joined, because of my lack of knowledge not the people............now i'm settled there is just no stopping me. |
