| | | Unidentified Building Can anyone help me out with this? We passed this building with a massive chimney in the Cotswolds at the weekend and it's bugging me to know what it's called/for anything really. I can't remember the name of the town/village which doesn't help although I think it was near Chipping Norton. (possibly!) |

| | | Re: Unidentified Building Panic over folk's, it's called Bliss Mill and used to be an old Victorian Tweed Mill but has now been turned into luxury apartments.
It was built in 1872 and closed in 1980 and the chimney is 165ft high.
End of History lesson.
(It's just outside Chipping Norton BTW.)

| | | Re: Unidentified Building I always thought he lived by the sea somewhere, I faintly recall a cookery programme with him in it and he was going on about getting fresh lobsters near enough at the end of his garden. Probably the Isle of Man then.
On a side note Blackdog have you ever been to the cheese rolling thingy at Coopers Hill? I'm thinking of going this year (26th May) although not to take part unless lot's of cider is consumed but I don't really fancy breaking my neck!!!

| | | Re: Unidentified Building It is the Isle of Man. He lives in a lighthouse near Castletown called Langness.
And yes he will have lobsters over his back wall! If you Google it you will see that he has sea on three sides.

On your comment about the 'Cheese Rolling Thingy' on Coopers Hill on the outskirts of Gloucester, I have been to that a few times, my family all live in Gloucester and it is crazy The hill is so steep and very rough bumpy grass and the contestants (crazy people) run down and just end up going head over heals and there is a row of St Johns Ambulance and other medics at the bottom trying to catch people and there is always casualties They do it all for the glory of a roll of cheese (don't know the proper name for a large roll of cheese ) and their name in the paper! It gets very large crowds and is certainly an experience, can't imagine what tourists visiting must think of the British My auntie has a B&B in Tewkesbury not far from there so pm me if you need details

| | | Re: Unidentified Building Thanks Linda! I know it's a big double Gloucester cheese but that's about it! We was going to go a few years back but on the website they advised against it because of all the rain (carpark nightmare!)
I'm sure I read somewhere that they get the local rugby lads in to tackle and stop them at the bottom!!!
I just need to talk the girlfriend in to going and if so might check out your aunties B&B.
Who's up for a bit of bog snorkelling or shin kicking???????? Cheese Rolling

| | | Re: Unidentified Building Cheese rolling is for nutters
I usually watch it on the local TV news with reports of how amny broken bones there have been this year
I think a whole round cheese is known as a wheel
