So we put hippo, wrong, it was crocodile.
I can't imagine that hippos kill that many people!

BWD | The questions is usually which African mammal
And I too have heard from many sources that the answer is Hippo, not
crocodile - I've been lucky enough to go many times to southern Africa,
well I do have a duaghter who lives there !!!
The problem with hippos is when you get between them and their water
safety, or them and their calves.
In Botswana in Moremi, on the Okavango, there is an open camp
(i.e. no fences) with Hippos about 50m away in the river - we sited
out tents deep in some bushes!!! But on the whole Hippos use regular paths
to their feeding gournds, and they are easy enough to spot.
The scond most deaths are said to be due to the buffalo, but personally I
doubt this as they are reserve bound and relatively rare.
I'm sure google with oblige !!! |

| | | Re: quiz do you know Could we start a new game on WAB? Pub Quiz lay out ten questions, give a 24 hour deadline for replys to post then do a head to head if theres an equal score? Have been thinking of this recently but unsure if it would work since guess who is such a simple fun game to play?

I knew it was mosquito (QI again!) but was way too late with the answer, as usual. |

BWD | I've always heard that Water Buffalo kill more people than any other major animal in Africa, with Hippo's second.

2) They introduced themselves - walked across the land bridge before the English Channel formed - presumably because they wanted to see what was over here!

Rabbits were not a pest in Norman times; in fact Rabbits were introduced by the Normans for food, and had to be cosseted in walled warrens, strictly protected by the warrener. Foxes were present in Britain in the Neolithic
