Jacked my job in last friday( lorry driver ). I have decided to have a couple of weeks off before looking for another one. 
Tuesday looking through the RSPB website looking for somewhere to go. Scope and bins in car, set off to Fairburn Ings, only 107 miles there. Had a great time wandering round. Well worth the trip 
Thursday decided to nip down to Titchwell for the day. Lovely and sunny with a slight breeze, managed to get my first glimps of a water rail .
Was going to do Welney on the way back but spent too much time at Titchwell  . |

Sounds like you had a good couple of days!
Titchwell seems like a good place for seeing water rail, I've been lucky enough to see them there four times (as many times as I've ever seen them anywhere else!). And I know what you mean about not making it to Welney, Titchwell is such a good place it's very hard to drag yourself away to visit another site! |

Yes, Titchwell is fab', though I have never seen a water rail there! Fairburn on the other hand, although good for birds I am not keen on. That fringe semi - industrial landscape of the West Riding I find rather depressing and it makes me feel sorry for the birds there!
