| | | Driving Are you one of the people that drives at 20 mph whatever the posted speed- limit? Do YOU smugly imagine that the tail of traffic behind you likes your P.C. interpretation of the rules?
IS it not possible that the impatience caused by YOUR attitude causes accidents
the imprudent overtaking the, gesticulating, the blare of horns
Why not let the Mr Toads of this world get on with it, keep YOUR consience clear ,
indicate pull over, even stop if necessary BUT LET ME BY
to the person in the micra that i followed at 20 mph for 20 miles |

| | ARGHHHHHHHHhh tell me about it!!!
Living out in the sticks in rural Northumberland we get a LOT of tourists at this time of year and they stick out a mile - THEY are the ones pootling along at 30mph and admiring the scenery. Even though the A697 is a 60mph road!!!!
I start work at 5.30am each morning so the tourists are not a problem then...it's later in the day when I'm driving home and I'm tired and have to cook a meal for Neil before he goes off out on nightshift - THAT is when it can be a bit frustrating being stuck behind a long line of traffic. Or, worse still, I am directly behind the slow car and there's a looooong line of traffic building up behind us and then the van drivers and Audi drivers get impatient and whizz by at the first opportunity - that's when it gets dangerous!!!
But generally I don't let it bother me...I only have to travel 10 miles or so in to Alnwick...I just put the local radio station on and drift off into my own little world
But, still, roll on winter so I can have the country lanes to myself once more....and all of Northumberland's glorious beaches and scenery and wildlife!

| | | People like that should not be on the road. If they lack the general confidence to drive then they should not be on the roads. A driver isn't supposed to admire the scenery, they are supposed to drive. If necessary take turns, or better still get out for a walk, but don't have everyone else suffer. Have to say that we don't have this problem in Birmingham and in certain areas it more prudent not to hang about but again I don't let it bother me too much - what's 10 minutes at the end of the day? |

| | | Marvellous, a thread about people actually driving too slow for a change! They drive me up the wall they do. A lot is said about speeding, but not enough about the dangers of driving too slow.
And if someone pipes up that there is no such thing as "too slow", I bet they don't drive, or at least don't drive long distance etc, and only "pop to the shops" in the car. |
