Elephant photographers!

I caught a brief glimpse of the most amazing news item this morning, an interview with a man who had been part of a team which were using trained elephants to operate special cameras to film other wild life. Gripping stuff. Not to be missed.
The first programme of Tiger- Spy in the Jungle will be shown on BBC One on Sunday 30 March at 2000 GMT

Re: Elephant photographers!

I'm being serious. the cameras are housed in big fake tree trunks with handles for the elephants to hold in their trunks. They can change the angle and everything!
Too early for April Fool!

Saw one of the out takes this morning,HILARIOUS, watching the elephant trying to load a reel of film, whilst drunk from eating loads of fermenting apples.

Re: Elephant photographers!

I want everyone here to hold hands, shut your eyes, and wish very hard that this is true and not an April Fool joke. I do so want it to be true. It is such a wonderful idea.

Re: Elephant photographers!

Stunning programme. I've been very fortunate to see Tigers in the wild, but hey nothing like the intimacy shown here. Possibly my favourite animal- they are so awesome!

Look forward to the next 2; will have to remember to tape the third as I'll be away. Sir David does it again with his team, not forgetting the pachyderms!

Re: Elephant photographers!

Very impressive and innovative programme. There seems to be a lot of potential in using special cameras for this type of wildlife filmmaking.
