Horrible Insurance People

They are today taking away my car to fix it, as someone went up the back of me, and will probably replace it with some hideous little Korean thing with Jim's Fixing It For Meor some other hideous message emblazened on the side of it.

Suggested models, or slogans, on a postcard please.

Re: Horrible Insurance People

Yeah I got four cases in the end, three for work and one for my camera gear. They are flight cases and very well padded out. Unfortunately my neck was not and is still giving me jip. I am worried about not getting my gear into the loan car and will ask them to take it away if the loan car is rubbish. I can see it now, a horrible little car in a hideous colour with a nasty driving position and me with my sore neck. Hows my luck?

Re: Horrible Insurance People

Whatever you get it can't be worse than my last hire car, an imported G reg Mazda 323 that did an impressive 40mph (downhill with a tail wind) with a radio that would only pick up Radio 2

The trick is to convince the insurance company that you need a similar hire vehicle to the one you've got (make up kids or job requirements). This tactic got my other half a brand new Focus when she got hit. The fact that you were hit from behind ( ) means that they shouldn't be too worried about costs as can recover everything.

Re: Horrible Insurance People

Its horrible. I better not say what it is just incase someone else has one but really its horrible. The colour isnt bad - silver, it says CRC courtesy car on the side, so at least people will know its not mine, but its about four foot long, 1. something engine and manual. I am going to leave it in my neighbours parking bay as I dont want to admit ownership.

Its not going to like the run I give it tomorrow throughout Wales either. No its horrible.

Can't sympathise...last loan car I had was a 55 plate BMW 325, time before that was Mini Cooper S.
Never mind....once you've spent a bit of time together I'm sure you'll end up quite fond of it

Re: Horrible Insurance People

I just took it for a bez and stalled three times. The guy had problems with mine too. Could not find the handbrake. Came and knocked on the door. "Mate someones nicked your handbreak". Yeah I am not in the mood for it right now. My boss will go up the wall when he sees what they have given me. Will be lucky to get one flight case in the boot. It is gopping. At least mine wil get a valet. Got to look on the plus side.

Re: Horrible Insurance People

It's a smart car isn't it boddie ??? or a siento both are minging, and being 6ft 4 I was not imprssed to get a smart when mine was pranged.

One option tho, if the accident wasnt your fault you could rent the same model that you usually drive then go after the other parties insurance for "consequential loss" to reimburse you. Insurance companies much prefer to settle than fight so this shouldnt be a problem. mind you you will need a good reason why the courtesy car is no good as "its horrible" isnt going to cut it I'm afraid. I suggest you say that it is too small and under powered to meet the minimum requirements of your job (thats what I said and they coughed up straight away)

Re: Horrible Insurance People

susuki wagonR - also known as shoe box on wheels but with less class. filling it with petrol will probably double its value. My (now ex) girlfreind had one until I totalled it. being tall and thin its centre of gravity is high and I toppled it over onto its side whilst going round a corner. A cautionary tale there boddie, tho frankly I was glad to see the back of it, until she replaced it with a skoda (old type)

Re: Horrible Insurance People

The pig has gone back and I got my car back beautifully valeted. Strange how people treat you in different cars. I was told when I joined my company, by a taxi driver no less, to not go for a Beemer as people never let you out of junctions. He considered my choice the safest of the bunch as regards courtesy from other drivers and I think he is probably right. Driving the pig certainly put things in perspective. Nobody wants you infront of them when you are driving a pig. Some macho thing probably. I like having my car back. Other cars are not so comfy as your own. Yippee - a clean car for the weekend

Re: Horrible Insurance People

I forgot to mention that they even fixed a scrape I had from a totally different accident where I scraped it along a pillar in a car park. Saved me a couple of hundred quid there I reckon, which was nice.

Re: Horrible Insurance People

I am not sure. Some of my colleagues have them and they say they have Waynes trying to race them all the time. 3 series are the new Mondeo and I think they made a mistake with the new styling. Supposed to be quick as though.

Re: Horrible Insurance People

thats part of the fun....leaving the boy racers far behind. Know what you're saying about the new shape though. Mines a 3L sport coupe, but its 4 1/2 years old now and definitely is a nicer shape than the newer ones. Excellent service at the dealer as well which counts for a lot these days.
and i really do get waved out at junctions...honest

Re: Horrible Insurance People

Yep I noticed the service at the dealers when I had mine done recently. A different standard compared to other cars I have had, and the ability to call out an engineer should the car suffer problems is good too. Beats the RAC every time.
